So, if you share my pain, suffer no more ! So, reluctantly, and with the daily suffering of seeing my beloved windows take the spin, I slowly came to the conclusion that I needed to do it myself. It looked like I was the only one suffering from the windows' placements mess up syndrom So I looked around for one big dog to guard those damn windows' positions when my back is turned.Īnd came up with many tools to restore desktop icons' positions (like IconRestorer), but nothing for the windows' placements. This started to sound like a conspiracy against my poor windows, and I decided enough is enough ! When I got home and unlocked my session, they were pushed like I was connecting through RD !!! I have no explanation for this, but the conclusion is obvious: everyone and their dog have an opinion about my windows' (MY windows' !!) best positions and sizes ! One day I decided I would restore all windows to their normal positions and sizes before leaving so I wouldn't have to do it later. Since I connect to my PC on and off all day long, at the end of the day, when I get home, guess what ! Then I noticded "The Drift": whenever I connect to my PC using Remote Desktop, windows are slightly pushed down and to the right. I play in full screen, and it changes display geometry, so when I get back to my desktop, all windows are messed up ! Sometimes desktop icons too. Every thing wants to mess up my windows !Īt first there was Zuma. If you don't have Windows 11 on your computer but want the wallpapers from it, head over to our previous coverage to download them. You may even use the backdrops on your other devices. If you have some skill with image editors, you could modify the wallpapers to suit your needs and spruce up your desktop. You can simply revert to the original backgrounds quite easily. Let's say that Microsoft decided to remove the wallpapers and replace them with new ones, or edits the current version. Having access to the official wallpapers has a few advantages. By manually changing the wallpaper, you can mix and match the images (including the hidden ones), with the built-in themes of your choice, to keep things fresh. But keep in mind that there are more backdrops available in the wallpapers folders, so you actually get some extra customization options. All you have to do is to change the theme, and you will get its corresponding image set as your desktop background.Īs I mentioned earlier, Windows 11 comes with 6 themes, each of which has its own wallpaper. That being said, there is a simple way to restore the default backgrounds. You will need to browse for them manually, and the folder is not exactly easy to find if you didn't already know about it. So, if you changed wallpapers several times, the Settings app will not display the default backgrounds of the operating system. Windows 11 only lists the 5 recent backgrounds that you used in the Settings > Personalization screen. What is the big deal about the Windows 11 wallpapers folder? Why is this important? Note: Windows also saves the icons for apps downloaded from the Microsoft Store in the Content Delivery Manager's folder, so may have to discard those images. This will mark them as images, that you can view in any program of your choice. you won't be able to open them in Windows Photo Viewer or other apps.
Thereby it all depends on the artist in which light a graveyard tattoo is portrayed. It can symbolise the last remnant of the people we lost or it can be based on the philosophy of the final stage of the holy life. Often times since a graveyard is feared, hence a graveyard tattoo can also imply how fearless one is, to inscribe something on their body that’s most feared. In many cases, it can stand for a new life or death of the past and the start of a new beginning. Whereas some view graveyards to be scary and something to be avoided, while some find it fascinating.Īlongwith symbolising death quite literally, a tattoo of a graveyard sets forth diverse representations. For some, it is a bad omen, for some a symbol of goth. This is a late-80s Data East game that's kind of cheesey but we like it. KEC's middle-era game is the next pick, Torpedo Alley. And this time the weed of crime breaks her way, letting her get up two games to one. The next game is bunny_hugger's pick of a middle-era game, The Shadow. It's tough being 1-1, but bunny_hugger's been there before. Once more bunny_hugger can't seem to get the multiball going, and KEC beats her out. The second game was KEC's pick of a modern game, 007 James Bond. Hopeful start while you can't win or lose the match in the first three games, starting on a win does feel better. The first game would be bunny_hugger's old-era game, Fast Draw, so as you already know she won that. bunny_hugger, keeping the scoresheet - she likes doing this, as do I, because we both know we do this right - accidentally writes KEC's game picks on the wrong side, so used is she to having the high-seed side of the sheets. For the first and only time this tournament bunny_hugger was not the high seed. I hope she feels appreciated for her work. I have the secondhand, vague impression there are club politics she's decided she is not getting paid to deal with, which is also a valid reason to bow out, but a sad one. She's stepping down as head of that club, saying that it's to free up the time she spends on this. It's the sort of endurance that earns people PhD's.Īnd she also has a narrative claim to the championship in her service to women's pinball, particularly in Grand Rapids, where she organized and built to a healthy base the Bells and Chimes women's club. KEC didn't she's just gotten a little better steadily, never a big jump but never a plateau either. I mean, everyone who takes pinball seriously improves, but usually they improve dramatically, reach a plateau of getting only a little better, then have another big jump, and another little plateau. She's been playing just forever, and has been steadily improving, like, all that while. KEC had good narrative claim to the championship. She's a good enough sport I can somewhat believe that. She said she didn't even care if she won, getting her name on the banner was enough. KEC was thrilled to think that her name was going to be on the banner, the one that hangs in the Clubhouse Arcade in Fremont where PH, state representative for the International flipper Pinball Association, has home base. The top finisher got a plaque, of course, but second through fourth got these nice rosette-bearing buttons bunny_hugger made. All the top four finishers were amazed they had gotten this far and were going home with not just money but also some hardware. When KEC beat SJV she seemed surprised to have made it to finals. Let me break format a little bit by bringing you the concluding round of the Michigan State Women's Pinball Championship.

The portrait mode in the Camera app is available on iPhones that have more than one camera lens. You can actually see the blurred background while taking the picture.
We want modders to be able to get up and running creating mods as quickly as possible. This is a very important point as stacked inefficiencies will eventually bite you. Due to this the scripting layer needs to be as fast as possible. Since we aim to provide extensive mod support we are developing as much of the game logic in the scripting layer whilst keeping any processing intensive code and generic client / server logic in the core layer. For a good game scripting language a few prerequisites need to be met. There are lots of choices out there for game scripting languages. No one likes a rogue mod deleting save files… or worse.Īfter deciding that we want to use a scripting language for the above reasons, and feel the above disadvantages aren’t too bad, we need to decide on what language to use. It’s very hard to maintain a complete sandbox but in the end you have to try your best. You will need to sandbox your scripting language runtime and / or whitelist libraries to prevent this. If you expose a way for the community to mod your game you will always get someone who will try and do malicious things with it. This matter really depends on how you view your game logic source code and if you’re willing to provide it for the greater good of your game and the modding community, or not. Your scripts can be the best teaching tool for how to use your scripting API and provide a great start to mods. Whilst some scripting languages allow you to pre-compile your scripts to shield your code from prying eyes – you may actually want to share the uncompiled scripts with your community and modders. By doing this, you’re correctly breaking the core logic and the game logic apart and keeping them in their respective places too. Any heavy duty, performance critical code should be run in the core language and then this can be provided to the scripting language as an API call. This can eventually have an effect on the end game system requirements but there are steps that can be taken to mitigate the worst cases. Bad: Slower ProcessingĪny embedded scripting language will almost certainly run slower than the core language you’re running it from. It may seem like too much effort for developers who are on a very tight schedule and are not experienced enough to get through the process. The initial research, selection, embedding and binding of the scripting language to your game core can take a while and is not the easiest thing to do. Recompiling your project for every minor edit is exhausting and, after the thousandth time, can send a developer to the edge of insanity and then past the gates of Oblivion. This is especially useful for developing artificial intelligence and if you’re working with C++. By pushing the game logic out to the scripting layer you’ll be able to reload the scripts without restarting, or recompiling, the game. When developing, if you can do something faster without sacrificing quality – you’ll want to do that. Seeing what others can craft with the tools you give them is a great feeling and can even rekindle your original feelings if you’ve unluckily burnt yourself out. Also, who wouldn’t like to see what other people can do with the world you’ve provided them? You make a game because you love the idea and world (hopefully!). Modders can become a very loyal and technically helpful addition to your community. Over the last few years mod support in games has been very lacking and if you provide mod support you’ll be greatly increasing your game’s shelf life and differentiate yourself from the crowd. There are advantages and disadvantages of embedding a scripting language in your game, these are:īy pushing as much as possible of the game logic into the scripting layer you allow for a mod community to grow around your game. In the case of games, and depending on how they are implemented, they can be embedded and used to control the game logic layer. So… what exactly is a scripting language? A scripting language is a programming language used to control another application. One large part that will contribute to this is providing a scripting language both on the server and client. This is part of a series of posts revolving around mod support, the introduction and links to the other posts can be found here.įor our current game, we’ve decided to provide as much mod support as possible. |
